February 18, 2012	Tahquamenon Falls State Park Hosts Snowshoe Race February 18 Tahquamenon Falls State Park will be hosting its second annual Tahquamenon Snowshoe Race on Saturday, February 18 at the Upper Falls. The race is organized by Great Lakes Endurance, LLC and offers courses of various distances including a 5K, 10K, 20K and a kid’s 800 meter race. All events start at the Upper Falls beginning at 11:00 am. Participants can register online at www.greatlakesendurance.com or on-site on race day. Registration cost ranges between $10-$40, with discounted fees for those who register early. Proceeds from the race support environmental education programs at Whitefish Township School in Paradise. Awards will be given to the top three in each age group for each race. Overall male and female winners in the 20K will receive a pair of Atlas Snowshoes while winners of the 10K will receive a Mountain Hardware Jacket. Overall winners of the 5K and Kid’s races will receive Mountain Hardware fleece tops. Age group awards for each race will include local maple syrup, honey, and Dagoba Organic Chocolate.
